P-Trim Multi-Stage Plug Throttling To prevent cavitation and subsequent damage in ultra high letdown service, P-Trim valves employ three techniques:
The most important feature of Mark P-Trim valves is the multi-keyed plug and throttling orifice chamber. Instead of attempting to deal with an ultra-high pressure drop in a single stage, the Mark P-Trim valve uses 2 to 7 stages to reduce the pressure gradually. By accurately controlling the pressure drop within each stage to 700 psi or less, velocities are reduced and cavitation noise and vibration are prevented. Since even the slightest casting imperfections can lead to premature valve failure, Leslie precision machines all internal throttling surfaces. These precision machining techniques assure that actual trim will conform to theoretical design values. P-Trim valves are available in 2" to 6" sizes for throttling drops tp 5000 psi. Available in body ratings to ANSI Class 3500. Synflow Sweep Angle Valves for Synfuel Service The Leslie Synfuel Valve has been especially designed for the most difficult applications in synthetic fuel, refining, petrochemical and oil & gas industries. This type of sweep angle design has been applied successfully in:
Slurry letdown service is undoubtedly the most critical of these applications, involving the three-phase flow of solids, liquids and gases at extremely high temperatures and pressure drops. This highly aggressive medium can destroy a conventional valve in a matter of hours. The Synflow Valve has been used successfully in a number of synfuel pilot plant situations where its actual service life has exceeded that of other valves by several orders of magnitude. The critical body passages of the Synflow have been efficiently designed to keep wear to a minimum. Plugs and seats are fabricated from a special tungsten-carbide alloy for corrosion and abrasion resistance. All internal parts, except the seat ring, are removable from the top of the valve. In the bonnet closure, all boltings and gaskets have been designed to eliminate problems inherent in thermal transients. Custom Characterised Cage Throttling Massive 400 series stainless steel cages resist warping or deformation and provide plug/window throttling through closure. The flow window can be shaped to meet specific Cv requirements and system characteristics. This custom characterised cage is standard in our Aeroflow control valve line and is available with all plug/seat options.
Les-Sonic Cage Mini-P Multi-Stage Plug C3 Combination Characterised Cage Slip Stream Noise Reducing Orifice Plates An economical way to reduce control valve or reducing valve noise by 6-12 dBA is the Leslie silencing orifice. The Leslie silencing orifice is produced from 300 series stainless steel plate and contains a pattern of regularly spaced holes, through which the flow passes. Designed to be installed downstream from the control valve or pressure-reducing valve fitted between two flanges. The level of noise produced in a pressure reducing station is a function of mass flow, pressure drop and valve geometry. The Leslie silencing orifice reduces noise in two ways. First, it absorbs part of the total pressure drop that would otherwise be taken by the control or reducing valve. Second, it conducts the flow through many small orifices instead of one large orifice. Since only a fraction of the total flow is passing through each orifice, the noise emitted by each orifice is less than what would be emitted by one large orifice.
